THE MOULIN ROUGE Cancan girls in the Moulin Rouge dance hall kicking high and shaking a leg for ogling patrons as the orchestra up in the gallery plays the raucous dance tune. JANE AVRIL Le Pétomane, aka Joseph Pujol, blew audiences away at the Moulin Rouge from 1890 to 1894, until he “cut off the gas” and took his unique talent to the parks of Paris and other European cities. LE PÉTOMANE The not-yet-famous Henri Toulouse-Lautrec looking ready to hit the street. Whether or not the cane is the one he hollowed out to put liquor in is unknown. HENRI TOULOUSE-LAUTREC After the Bath, Woman drying her neck, by Degas is what Arky and Iris get to see being created with Chloe as the model. AFTER THE BATH, WOMAN DRYING HER NECK The famous artist, Edgar Degas, in 1895 and looking very French. EDGAR DEGAS Housing the Paris Opera Ballet, this is how Iris and Arky would have seen Place de l'Opéra and Palais Garnier in 1894.
